The ECU supports traction control with the additional installation and configuration of compatible wheel speed sensors. It's a stretch to call this a hack. Wheel speed sensor feedback is currently not plumbed to the oem ECU, just the antilock controller, so it's impossible to have a true pnp wheel speed based setup for that reason alone. I found a forum post that seems to indicate the the traction control works by pulling timing, which is something a piggyback like the racelogic would have a difficult time doing. That being said, I find it very suspect that there is so little information out there about the feature and what modifications are required to make it work. I agree that a major feature like this should be better documented and advertised, and it's omission is weird. I'd feel a lot better about it if there was some solid info. I certainly wouldn't be placing an order without getting someone from haltech to spend some time with me on this one. I realize it works safely and well, but if you want to get into calling things hacks, the racelogic's piggyback design is certainly just as much, if not more of a "hack" than the haltech.

Putting AMS garbage, and $500 ebay wheels on a Z is like dressing a Victorias Secret model in a Walmart dress and Payless shoes. You're embarrassing yourself. |
